Supporting St Wilfrid Harrogate
On average, it costs about £4,250 a week to run St Wilfrid’s. This covers everyday activities. It does not cover major works to the building, for which we must find extra funding to survive.
The Vision for the Future of St Wilfrid Harrogate
- To provide the parish, the town and visitors with buildings that are warm, welcoming, clean and safe.
- To expand the uses the church is put to, for the congregation, the community, and for commercial and heritage audiences.
- To secure our financial future through making our buildings work for us, rather than us working for the buildings.
- To safeguard our heritage, making changes where we believe they are justified.
We receive no income from the Government, Local Authority or the Church of England. The regular congregation, collections, donations, wedding fees, etc., and our commercial activity – together with donations from the local area – help us to continue our work and keep our building open.

- Restoration and cleaning of the Darlington Panels in church

- Organ and music fund
Your donation will be used for the primary purpose specified. Where any appeal reaches or exceeds its targets your donation will then be used for similar projects or for general purposes unless you direct otherwise. All donations made to St Wilfrid Harrogate are gratefully received and help us carry out our work.
However you wish your donation to be used – every penny counts. The majority of our income comes from the kind donations of individuals – whether they attend church, have been to an event here, or just want to support the building and the secular community groups who use the parish hall.
It is through the support of individual donors that St Wilfrid’s is able to remain open daily, with daily services and to continue to play a vital role in our community.
St Wilfrid Harrogate is open daily from 9am until after the last service of the day (usually around 7pm). You can use the church for prayer, or just for a little peace whenever you feel the need.
There are daily services held in church ranging from brief Evening Prayer to full Parish Mass every Sunday at 10am.
If you need to talk to our Team Rector, Fr Gary Waddington, contact the Parish Office on 01423 504629. The office is open 9.30am – 2.30pm Monday to Friday. Fr Gary is available outside of these times but it is best to contact the office first.
On the first Wednesday of every month we hold a lunch called Cafe Petrus. It takes place in the Parish Room after Wednesday 11am Mass (you don’t have to attend the Mass to come along to the lunch). Everyone is welcome, and lunch is £5 for two courses, a glass of wine, and coffee.
Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals
If you need support organising a baptism, wedding or funeral in church, please contact Linda Harrison in the Parish Office on 01423 504.
