General Synod
Fr Gary will be at the York meeting of General Synod from the morning of Friday 7th July and returns to the parish for mass on the evening of Tuesday 11th July. He will be driving back to preside at the Parish Mass on Sunday 9th at 10am, but will return to York immediately after mass has ended. If there are any pastoral issues, Fr Tim should be able to deal with them, and the office staff will deal with any other enquiries as usual.

Christian Aid Week
It is Christian Aid week with a special focus on the needs of refugees. This Sunday, there will be an envelope in every hymn book, and those who live within the parish are asked if they could take just a few extra and deliver and collect them in their immediate neighbourhood.  There will be extra envelopes for this on the sidesmen's tables, or please ask Janet Thomas.  All envelopes should be returned to Janet, or to the Parish Office, by the first Sunday in June. A full list on notices can be found by downloading the weekly service sheet.

Christian Aid
There will be a meeting in the Parish Hall on Saturday 6 May from 10-12.30 about the work of Christian Aid with refugees, which is the focus for Christian Aid week this year. The meeting is organised by the Regional Coordinator for Christian Aid and will be attended by people from churches in the area.  If anyone is interested in attending and hearing more about the work of the organisation, please contact Janet Thomas, as we shall need to know numbers for refreshments.
As we are hosting the meeting, we shall be providing tea or coffee from 9.30 to those who attend, and if anyone is willing just to give half an hour or so to help with that, it would be much appreciated.  Please let Janet know if you are able to do so.

Church action on Poverty Sunday
26th February, the Sunday next before Lent, has been designated Church Action on Poverty Sunday, when churches are encouraged to pray and act for change.  As part of our action, it would be good to be able to send an extra generous contribution to the Homeless Project.   Non perishable food stuffs, tea, coffee, non-biological washing powder, toiletries, socks would be particularly welcome.  If you prefer to give a cash donation to Janet Thomas or Shirley Simpson, they will shop on your behalf and give you a receipt, so that you can see what you have provided.
