Heritage Open Days are annual events where historic buildings across the UK are opened to the public. On Saturday 8th of September St Wilfrid Harrogate will be holding church and belltower tours, giving visitors access to parts of the church that are normally not open to the public. Find out about the history of Harrogate’s only Grade I listed building, discover its hidden treasures and explore the spooky belltower!
Subject to availability the tours will include the crypt, the Darlington Panels, displays of the silver and vestments, the hall and the belltower. The belltower tour involves over 80 steep steps, walkways and trip hazards so is not suitable for children under 6 years old and those with limited mobility.
Tours will run every half hour between 12 noon and 2pm (last tour at 2pm). To book a place on a tour email firstname.lastname@example.org. Tours are free, refreshments available in the parish hall all afternoon.
