Christmas is a wonderful time of year at St Wilfrid Harrogate. The church looks beautiful with big floral arrangements, three trees in the baptistery and nativity scene around the font. Best of all, the church is warm after having had a completely new heating system installed in 2017.
There really is a service for everyone at this time of year. Nine Lessons and Carols is a traditional candlelit carol service with the choir singing old favourites including Once in Royal David’s City, O Little Town of Bethlehem and lesser known pieces including The Bellman’s Song and As Joseph Was A-Walking. On Christmas Eve the popular Crib Service includes Christingles for all the children and favourite carols without the choir. The Crib Service and Midnight Mass are particularly busy so it is advisable to arrive early in order to get a seat.
